The Beginnings of Harvey Wash Ltd
Harvey Wash Ltd was born from a love of engineering, Rolls Royces and all things automotive. In fact, Harvey’s first car was even a Roll Royce pedal car!
Harvey trained as an agricultural engineer but it was this training combined with his fascination for his grandfather’s 20/25 that led him into serving an apprenticeship with Rolls Royce London. Harvey later moved on to head the Rolls Royce team of engineers at Colchester’s distributor – Kenning Car mart.
Establishing Excellence and Expertise in Rolls Royce & Bentley Care
In 1974, looking to pursue his passion further, Harvey set up what then became Harvey Wash Ltd and the rest is history. He even went on to become chairman of the Rolls Royce and Bentley Specialists Association where we have attended (and spoken at) industry leading lectures.
For nearly five decades Harvey, his wife Andrea and the rest of the team have worked tirelessly on our client’s vintage and classic vehicles and become leaders in Rolls Royce and Bentley restoration and maintenance.
We have worked on countless Bentley and Rolls Royce vehicles, both pre and post war, some of which have been under our care and owned by the same family for up to fifty years. Our attention to detail, customer care and unique skillset are just some of the things that have led us to have an outstanding reputation within the classic car industry.
Contemporary Harvey Wash Ltd – Continuing the legacy
In 2023 Harvey and his wife Andrea passed the company reins over to husband and wife team Matthew and Gemma.
Matthew has worked at Harvey Wash Ltd for nearly 15 years. He studied Product Design on Coventry University’s Industrial Design programme and transitioned into working on classic cars after university, before then starting at Harvey Wash Ltd as a junior member of the team.
Matthew has a lifelong interest in classic cars and design, so working on Rolls Royce and Bentleys was a natural progression in his career. He now heads up the Harvey Wash Ltd team pledging to continue the company’s excellent reputation whilst also bringing to the forefront his love of a diverse range of classic cars and his passions for design and history.
Gemma has a First Class degree in scale model making and spent a number of years working as a professional model maker for high profile clients across the architectural, marine and film industries. Gemma is also a jewellery maker and has her own small business (Gemma Tremayne Jewellery). Matthew and Gemma have two children, Oliver (4) who loves vehicles just as much as his Dad, and Benjamin (1).
Matthew and Gemma are excited to be guiding Harvey Wash Ltd into the next chapter of it’s life. They hope to build on the company’s exceptional reputation and continue to keep these unique vehicles on the road.
